Maintenance Tip of the Month

For peak performance, a fuel injector has to deliver the right amount of fuel into the combustion chamber at the right time. The fuel must be atomized, or sprayed in a fine mist. This is the most efficient way for the fuel to burn. Injectors can become dirty over time, preventing proper spray.

If you notice a loss of power in your engine, if your engine is making a metallic “pinging” noise or if your engine hesitates (does not immediately respond when you step on the accelerator pedal), you may have dirty injectors. There are special cleaning solutions that we have available in our parts department. These are added to the fuel and they clean as you drive. For really tough clogs, we have a more aggressive service to clean the injectors, utilizing specialized cleaning equipment. If you are experiencing poor engine performance be sure to visit our service department.
